Abstract

572,300. Discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and GALLIZIA, E. June 20, 1941, No. 7808. [Class 39 (i)] In an electron discharge device having a seal which comprises a plurality of annular metal members 4 separated by vitreous enamel 5, the inner surfaces oi the enamel lie at the bottom of deep recesses 6 between the metal annuli. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), a further shielding effect is obtained by turning the inner edges of the metal annuli in a direction parallel to that of the axis of the seal. The seal may be heated during the operation of the device so as to prevent the condensation of vapour on its inner surface. Suitable heating means are described in Specification 572,299.
