Abstract

729,494. Mounting terminal; electrolytic condensers. BRENNAN, J. B. Nov. 13, 1952, No. 28639/52. Classes 37 and 38 (1). An end closure and terminal support for a device such as a condenser 10 enclosed in a casing 11, comprises an insulating disc 17, Fig. 1, located in a widened end portion 20 of casing 11 and around which is stretched an annular, resilient sealing member 15, one terminal 12 of the condenser being located between the disc and sealing member. Said terminal passes through an aperture 33 in a terminal supporting disc 32 located above the member 15. A cathode and mounting ring 38 is fitted above disc 32 and pressure is applied through it to the assembly to form a seal by spinning over the edge of the casing at 42. The cathode terminal 13 passes outside the member 15 to ring 38 as shown but it may be led out in a similar manner to terminal 12. The terminals 12, 13 may comprise continuous wires or they may be welded to other terminal portions beneath disc 32. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) member 15 embraces both discs 17, 32. Fig. 5 shows another modification wherein the mounting ring 38a has a tubular portion 39a fitting outside the casing 11a, which casing is of thin material, to form a support therefor, being spun inwards at 50 and 51 to apply pressure to the sealing assembly. An additional annular sealing member 16 is provided in this construction.
