Abstract

737,205. Mounting terminals. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. March 26, 1954 [March 26, 1953], No. 8395/53. Class 38 (1). A terminal assembly for the sealed container of a capacitor comprises a headed conducting tube 21 passing through a hole with a turned-up edge 6 in the lid 4 of the container and being surrounded by a resilient bush 3 in the region of the hole. An insulating washer 5 embraces tube 21 above the bush and above it is located a terminal 7. The tube is riveted on to the terminal at 8 so as to compress the bush between washer 5 and the head 1. The washer 5 may have a downwardly extending skirt embracing the edge 6 and the tube 21 may be tapered towards the head 1 to improve the seal (Fig. 2, not shown). After a wire from the capacitor has been passed through the tube and connected to terminal 7 and the container filled with impregnant, the tube is sealed by solder. Where more than one adjacent terminal is provided on the lid 4, a single washer 5 formed with holes for the sleeves of the terminals and embracing each of the holes in the lid may be employed. Fig. 9 shows a cover for up to three adjacent terminals, being formed of resilient material and having shoulders 23 which spring under shoulders 24 on washer 5.
