930,017. Electric cable terminations. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Feb. 7, 1962 [Feb. 8, 1961], No. 4688/61. Addition to 893,376. Class 36. In a method of preparing a cable end for high voltage testing using the or a modified form of the stress cone described in the parent Specification a conducting screen 30 is provided which acts as a corona shield, and is immersed in insulating oil in a container 14. The stress cone includes a tubular electrode 10 connected to a metal ring 5 which is electrically connected to the cable core screening 25, e.g., by the application of a conductive layer to dielectric material which may be paper filling the space between the cone and the cable core. The modified stress cone is one which departs from the frusto-conical head shape in the parent Specification.
