Abstract
920,247. Insulators. WAVIN PIPES Ltd. Nov. 10, 1961 [Jan. 23, 1961], No. 40341/61. Class 36. A terminal bushing for a high - tension single core screened cable 1 comprises a thermoplastic or thermosetting tube 5 with a plurality of rainsheds 6 attached to its exterior and a stress cone 8 extending axially at one end of the tube 5. The tube 5 and rainsheds 6 are preferably made from hard P.V.C. and the stress cone 8 is preferably a non - ferrous metal or a metallized hard P.V.C. and the tube 5 and cone 8 are preferably joined by another hard P.V.C. member 7. In the embodiment shown a plastics insulated cable has an inner conductor 1 which is bared near the top of the insulator for connection to an overhead wire, an inner insulating layer 2 which is bared in the insulator, a screening wire 4 which is wrapped round the stress cone 8 and held in contact with it and an outer insulation 3. After placing the cable in the insulator, the space is filled with a liquid insulant 11 such as epoxy resin.
