Abstract

747,546. Caps for thermionic valves. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 26, 1954 [July 27, 1953], No. 21756/54. Class 38 (1). To prevent corona discharge between the leadin conductors 10 of a discharge tube, the header 5 on the envelope is formed with bosses 7 surrounding the conductors and fitting into wells 9 in the cap 3, at the bottoms of which the pins 11 are secured by riveting over. Grommets 15 of resilient insulating material in the wells 9 are compressed round the conductors between the header and cap. In a modification, Fig. 4, a gasket 16 is compressed between the header and cap, portions thereof being pressed into the wells 9 by the bosses 7.
