Abstract

735,450. Capacitors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 3, 1952 [Oct. 9, 1951], No. 24847/52. Class 37. A wound-type condenser is arranged in an airtight casing 1 having a cover 2, part of which is cup-shaped. A bush 5 for an electric connection 9 is secured to the cover within the cup, the joint between bush and cover being sealed by hardening resin 13 within the cup. The casing is of cold-sprayed aluminium, impregnated paper or other insulating material; the cover is of pressed sheet aluminium and each metal bush 5 (a plurality may be used) comprises metal tubing 5 riveted to but insulated from the cover by insulated discs 6, 7, 8. The lead 9 is connected through a bead 10 to a soldering lug 11. Cold or hot setting resin may be used and is applied at 4, 13 at the same time. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the raised portion 12 of the cover is dispensed with.
