Abstract

496,310. Ventilators. JONES, A. A. W. Aug. 12, 1937, No. 22170. [Class 137] A ventilator for use on the ridge or slope of a roof, and for extracting air from a building comprises a vertical open ended base member 1 with flanges 3 secured to the roof, and having supports 5 to which are attached an intermediate member 4, and a top member 8. The member 4 is an open ended square frame the lower edge 6 of which is in the same horizontal plane as, or is below the upper edge 7 of the base member 1; and the upper edge 10 of the member 4 is spaced from the underside of the top member 8 which has a downturned rim 9. Air escapes through the spaces between members 1, 4 and 8, and extraction of air is promoted by a cross draught. The top and other parts may be made of glass so that the ventilator may act as a sky light.
