Abstract
421,747. Chimney &c. tops. KAY, J. B., Data, London Road, St. Albans. Aug. 1, 1933, No. 21565. [Class 25] A chimney or ventilator shaft top or cowl comprises an elbow piece 1 adapted to be connected to the chimney or shaft and projecting into and partly across an open-ended member 2 which is narrowed in cross-section towards its ends. The upper end of the member 2 may be either oblique or perpendicular to the axis and the elbow piece may project into the member 2 either at right angles or in an upwardly inclined direction. The upper wall of the elbow may project farther than the lower wall. An air inlet pipe 4 may be provided through the elbow piece and in addition or alternatively an aperture 3 may be provided through the member 2 above the elbow piece. The lower end of the elbow may be formed with a hollow conical or pyramidal base member forming a ledge or gutter 6 drained through openings 7. Specification 310,267, [Class 25], is referred to.
