Abstract

Chimney and ventilating- shaft tops.-A cowl for ventilating-shafts and chimneys comprises two coaxial spaced cylinders a, b, a wind-directed cowl-head m mounted above the upper cylinder, and a third cylinder j disposed in the space between the two coaxial cylinders and connected with the cowl head so as to rotate therewith. An aperture k in the cylinder j is in diametrically opposed position relative to the outlet o of the cowl head, and a vane n maintains the cowl head in such position that the aperture k serves as an air inlet. A truncated cone l is fitted in the cylinder j in order to ensure an upward draught from the inlet k. The cylinder j and cowl head m are mounted on a central shaft h having bearings f, g on cross stays d, e. The lower end of the upper cylinder is flared outwardly and the lower cylinder has a truncated cone b<1> for collecting drainage water. The two coaxial cones a, b are connected by stays c, the lcwer ends of which are bent to form a seating when the cowl is fitted in position on a chimney pot,
