[Class 25] A chimney or ventilating shaft top comprises an uptake c and a transverse conduit open at both ends and without any internal obstruction, the cross-sectional area of the conduit increasing comparatively slowly from a contracted throat portion b to the leeward end d and increasing more rapidly from the throat to the end a facing the wind. The top may be directed by a wind vane and may be mounted so as to be adjustable about two axes at right-angles if used in positions where the prevailing direction of the wind is not horizontal.
