Abstract
401,078. Chimney &c. tops. MARKS, W. R., 351, New King's Road, Fulham, London. Sept. 2, 1932, No. 24486. [Class 25.] In a wind-directed chimney cowl or ventilator of the kind wherein an inclined tubular or cylindrical member 4 is fixed on a rotatable vertical member 2 mounted on a fixed vertical member 1 and arranged so that the upper end of the inclined member sets away from the wind, the inclined member and the vertical members are free from obstruction by internal spindles or deflector plates. As shown, Fig. 1, the member 2 carries internal rollers or wheels 8 adapted to run on tracks 7 fixed to the exterior of the member 1. The member 2 tapers at 3 towards the inclined member 4 which it joins towards the lower end thereof in order to give a wind-directive effect to the cowl. A wind vane 5 may connect the members 3, 4. In modified forms, Figs. 2, 3 and 4, the member 2 is mounted by means of ball bearings.
