Abstract

231,266. Arnold, C., (Robertson Co., H. H.). Jan. 22, 1924. Chimney and ventilating-shaft tops. - A ventilator for buildings, ships, chimneys, &c. comprises an eduction pipe 10, a storm band 13 and a conical cap 12 located above the upper edge of the pipe 10 and within the band 13. One or more baffle rings 27 may be provided to prevent entry of rain into the pipe 10. Upward currents of air may be deflected outside the ventilator by means of a band 25 secured on the pipe 10 with a drainage opening 28 therebetween. An outwardly and downwardly extended lip 30 is provided around the upper edge of the pipe 10 to prevent air which passes up through the opening 28 from entering the ventilator.
