Abstract
504,996. Ventilating cowls. DAVID SEN, F. H. T. R., and KARLBY, H. Sept. 13, 1938, No. 26728. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1937. [Class 25] A diffuser 2 of increasing cross-section and carrying on its outer surface a number of radial or nearly radial vanes 3 is fixed to the top of the ventilating flue 1. A roof plate 4 may be attached directly or by supports 6 offering little air resistance to the upper parts of the' vanes which may be ef diminishing width. An annular screen 5 having its lower edge approximately flush with the top of the diffuser may be fixed to the vanes. The vanes may extend along the outer surface of the screen 5. An annular water discharge gap 8 may be provided between the diffuser and ventilating flue. Fig. 8 shows a construction in which several screens 5 ... 5<111> are supported by the vanes 3 with their upper edges lying in a continuous curve 7.
