Abstract

562,869. Ventilating. GELDER, R. Jan. 6, 1943, No. 234. [Class 137] A ventilator fitted in the roof of a building comprises one or more box-like compartments open at the top and bottom and formed from vertical walls 2, 3 with or without transverse dividing walls 7, the opening 1 for the passage of foul air being covered by horizontal baffle plates 4, 4a which are spaced from the opening to provide ventilating passages. Additional or alternative ventilating means may be provided on the roof slope 6 which is raised to allow air to pass beneath it and above the lower surface 6b, a vertical wind deflector 8 being mounted on the lower surface, and transverse deflectors 9 on the upper surface. Air entering through drainage openings 12 in the deflector 8 is directed upwards by baffles 14.
