Abstract
1,212,769. Ventilating shaft tops. WALLACE MURRAY CORP. 2 April, 1968 [1 May, 1967], No. 15679/68. Heading F4J. A vent cap 10 comprises a central chamber having an imperforate top 12, a plurality of ducts 14 extending from the individual sides of said chamber, each of said ducts having upper and lower openings 18 and 20, and a baffle member 22 located within each duct 14 to direct the wind entering the cap so that aspiration is produced. As shown, the cap, which includes a cylindrical stub pipe section 24 which extends upwards into the central chamber, is square, and the four ducts 14 extending therefrom support a baffle 22 and an integral bottom wall (34, Fig. 3), said baffle comprising a sloped upper deflector plate 36 parallel to the upper wall 32 of the duct, and a plurality of spaced vertical bars 42. In another embodiment, the baffle member is essentially an accordion-like configuration (see Fig. 9, not shown).
