Abstract
640,769. Ventilators. ROEVAC AIR EXTRACTORS, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1948, No.. 21496. [Class 137] A roof ventilator for a vehicle comprises a hood 4 shrouding an opening 3 so that air which is deflected over the hood by a member 8, extracts air from the vehicle through the openings 3, 6; and is characterized by the deflector 8 being apertured to admit air to the vehicle by way of the tube 9a which is shrouded by the deflector 8. The tube 9a is transversely elongated and the apertures in the deflector 8 are provided with fixed louvres 10. A baffle prevents water from passing from the louvres directly to the tube 9a, drain holes 8a being provided. A circular plate is arranged beneath the ventilator, and, to prevent air from passing directly from the tube 9a to the outlet 3, a transverse partition is provided on the plate. Drain holes 7 are provided in the hood 4. To provide a reversible ventilator, the hood 4 may be made symmetrical relatively to the outlet 3, and a deflector 8 positioned at each end of the hood. One of the deflectors may be left unapertured. Specification 400,726 is referred to.
