Abstract

894,093. Vehicle ventilators. WEATHERSHIELDS Ltd. Feb. 1, 1961 [Feb. 2, 1960], No. 3600/60. Class 137. A ventilator for vehicles comprises an outer cover 11, a base member 10 having longitudinally spaced circular openings 12 and 13, slots 16 and 17 in the front and rear respectively of the cover, and a duct 18 which connects the forward opening 13 with the rear slot 17, the ventilator being adapted to be mounted on a vehicle roof or wall which may form the base member 10. The upper wall of the duct 18 is formed by the cover 11 and the lower wall by a sheet metal pressing 19 which has, at its front end, a flat portion pierced to fit over an upstanding flange 14 around the opening 13. A flange 22 which co-operates with the top of the cover 11 and is spaced inwardly from the sides thereof, is provided around the edge of the pressing 19, the rear edge of which is secured to the rear end of the cover below the slots 17. The arrangement is such that air from the slots 16 around the duct 18 to the rear opening 12 while air from the vehicle interior is extracted through the duct. The openings 12 and 13 may be covered by grids, diffusers or controlling shutters and a baffle 24 and water outlets 23 are provided. In a modification the duct is a completely separate unit having its rear part flattened and terminated in an elongated nozzle which is secured over the slots 17.
