Abstract
368,429. Vehicle ventilators. PRICE, W. H., Great Central Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire. Dec. 19, 1930, No. 38252. [Class 137.] A ventilator for motor cars and other vehicles comprises an air inlet opening at the upper front part of the vehicle and a baffle or deflector adapted to deflect the entering air in such a manner as to impinge upon and pass downwardly along the inner face of the windscreen. Air enters the vehicle through an inlet 1 at the top of the windscreen 2 and is deflected by an adjustable baffle or deflector 3 supported at each end by a pivot pin 4, Fig. 5, rotatably mounted in a socket 5 and by a spring- pressed ball 6 adapted to engage in one of a series of indents in an arcuate arm 8 attached to the vehicle body. The baffle may be of arcuate form as shown in Fig. 2, and perforated to allow part of the ingressing air to be diffused radially into the vehicle. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the baffle is plane and a hit- and-miss regulator 15, 16 is provided at the rear of the inlet 1. In a further modification part of the ingressing air may be allowed to pass into the vehicle above the baffle.
