Abstract

474,849. Ventilators. LUDLOW, E. R. July 23, 1936, No. 20366. [Class 137] A ventilator, primarily for vehicles, comprises a shallow hood a having an inlet at its forward end, and an outlet d in a flat base b surrounded by a lip e which prevents entry of water, a curved air deflector f of a depth substantially equal to that of the hood diverting the air into two currents which meet other deflectors g, and enter the opening d at the side remote from the inlet opening. A baffle h, arranged transversely across the opening d, breaks up the converging air streams to ensure a uniform velocity over the opening d. A dished air diffuser p, which controls the volume of entering air, may be provided, which is adjustable vertically by turning a screw-head t, springs v holding it against rotation.
