Air, humidifying; forced-draught apparatus.- In ventilating and air-moistening apparatus of the type in which air is impelled by means of waterspraying nozzles arranged in a large tube, the moistened air being passed to a long distribution pipe, defecting devices in the form of caps, knobs, or the like are adjustably mounted in front of the nozzles and the outlets from the distribution pipe are constructed so that drops of water in suspension in the air are removed without the use of separators. In the apparatus shown, air from the exterior or the interior of the room is drawn into the tube 1 by the waterspraying nozzles 2, in front of which are arranged hemispherical deflectors 13 carried by brackets and adjustable towards and from the nozzles by means of a chain 15 passing over pulleys 14. Excess water collects in enlargements 11 of the tube 1, provided with exhaust pipes 12. An exhaust draught may be created by a nozzle 9 arranged in the opposite direction to that of the nozzles 2. In a modified form, the nozzles 2 are arranged in one plane perpendicular to the axis of the tube. The distribution-pipe 8, a portion only of which is shown, tapers inwardly from the inlet end, and the lateral outlets are formed as shown in Fig. 4a with lips 17 having flanges 18 to arrest small drops. A perforated sheet metal or wire gauze flap 19, pivoted at 20, may also be provided, which is retained in the required position by set-screws 21 engaging holes in brackets 22.
