Abstract

728,981. Treating gases containing dust with liquids. VICARD, P. G. Jan. 27, 1953 [Feb. 5, 1952; Nov. 20, 1952], No. 2319/53. Class 55 (2). The process and apparatus for treating gases containing suspended dust particles with liquids to remove the dust described in Specification 649,110 is modified by the provision of a duct g which returns a portion of the treated .gas to the entry to the venturi c. The gas to be treated is saturated with water by spray a, supersaturated with water by spray b and passes together with recycled gas through the venturi c. Droplets of condensed water are precipitated by a third spray d, the treated gas not recycled passed through baffles e to remove entrained water. The venturi tube c may be replaced by a conduit having a number of successive venturi-shaped portions or by a conduit having curvilinear portions c<SP>3</SP> and c<SP>4</SP> as shown in Fig. 4. Central elongated baffles may be located at the throat or throats of the venturi tube or conduit. Specification 649,110 is referred to.
