Abstract

695,039. Washing air. OTTERWAY. J. A. Jan. 10, 1952 [Jan. 10, 1951], No. 749/51. Class 55(ii) Air and gases from a rotary drying plant 1 for broken stone &c. are drawn by a fan 4 through a cyclone separator 3 in which most of the dust is separated by gravity the air then being delivered through a pipe 5 into a water spray chamber 6 of larger cross sectional area which slopes down to a drain 9 at the discharge end fitted with a short chimney 10. Spray roses are fitted to short inwardly directed feed pipes spaced along a coiled water supply pipe 12 to provide a fine mist throughout the length of the chamber. In a modification the spray heads are inclined upwardly and downwardly along two internal longitudinally disposed pipes.
