Abstract

1,191,032. Evaporators; spray drying. INSTITUT FUR LUFT-UND KALTETECHNIK 22 March, 1968, No. 13857/68. Heading B1B. A solution, suspension or paste, of a particulate solid is dried by spraying the material from tube 17 into a preliminary drying zone 1 which communicates with main drying zone 2, the spray of material being, surrounded by a flame 29 from gas burner 24 and supplying secondary gaseous drying agent to the drying zones through pipe 19. The material is sprayed by means of gaseous drying agent supplied through pipe 15. Burner 24 is in the form of a ring with apertures in the lower face, and is supplied with gas (propane, natural gas, sewer gas) through inlet 26. Guiding elements 23 prevent swirling of the stream of secondary gaseous drying agent. The dried material; suspended in drying gas, is discharged through pipe 11.
