671,937. Generating combustion products under pressure. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. June 21, 1950 [March 22, 1949], No. 7823/49. Class 51 (i). [Also in Group XI] In a combustion chamber having an airjacketed flame tube in which is disposed a hollow baffle defining a primary combustion zone, a circular series of tangential entries is provided in the baffle extending along the length of the baffle so that the inner surface of the baffle is swept by a high-velocity air stream. The baffle comprises a conical portion 6 and a cylindrical portion 7, the tangential entries being in the form of scoops 8 and those in the two portions of the baffle are preferably oppositely handed. Atomized liquid fuel or pulverized solid fuel may be used. The combustion chamber described in the Provisional Specification is not essentially of the airjacketed type.
