Abstract

522,980. Washing gases. 'BIVAC AIR CO., Ltd., McLEAN, G. E. Dec. 22, 1938, No. 37263. [Class 55 (ii)] Dust-laden air is purified in a duct or suction box d which is wide and shallow and into which the air is drawn by several ejectors g each comprising a compressed air nozzle delivering into a convergent-divergent nozzle which may be formed by parallel branches h of the duct, the air then passing into a common duct i in which is delivered a mist of water from nozzles j wetting the dust to discharge it as a slurry at m. The duct, which is arranged below a coal delivery conveyer a, has an open end c over a coal truck b and has valve controlled inlet e on its underside near the moving coal. Compressed air is fed by the pipe k to the water nozzles j, which deliver water in a direction opposite or transverse to the main air stream.
