Abstract

870,812. Centrifugal separators. DUST CONTROL PROCESSES Ltd. July 3, 1959 [July 8, 1958], No.21839/58. Class 23 [Also in Group XII] Apparatus for washing gas containing dust comprises a vessel 10 containing a washing liquid and having a gas inlet 12 which introduces the gas to be washed tangentially into the vessel 10, a central outlet duct 22 with its lower end slightly above the operational level .of the washing liquid in the vessel 10 and into which a rotating stream of gas and entrained liquid is passed and a gas/liquid separating cham- ber 28 , dust-free gas being withdrawn at 36 and liquid containing dust particles passed by a pipe 42 to a tank 14 adjacent and connected with the vessel 10. The duct 22 may be cylindrical or as shown it may be in the form of a Venturi-tube and a body 30 and helical vanes 48 may be disposed in its throat. Washing liquid may be added to flow down the outside of the lower portion of the duct 22 or adjacent the body 30 in the duct 22.
