710,930. Treating gases with liquids. SERRA, F. SALSAS-, and PLANAGUMA, A. Oct. 22, 1952 (Oct. 31, 1951], No. 26487/52. Class 55 (2) Solid, liquid or gaseous impurities are removed from a gas by passing it through a tangentially positioned pipe 7 into a cylindrical chamber 6 and mixing it therein with a washing liquid which is finely atomized by a device as described in Specification 709,693, [Group XXIX], this device consisting of a number of blades 9 mounted on the shaft of a motor 10 and revolved at high speed whilst a stream of liquid is fed from above on to the blades. The gas-liquid mixture is withdrawn from chamber 6 through a duct 8 by a fan 1 which projects it at high velocity against a surrounding wall 3 upon which the dust &c., contaminated droplets coalesce and drain into a trough from which the liquid is withdrawn at 5. The clean gas discharges tangentially from a chamber 4 above the fan.
