Ventilators.-A roof ventilator comprises a clerestory, lantern or jack-roof e provided above a ventilation opening d in the main roof, and screens or baffles a extending longitudinally thereof and spaced apart laterally therefrom, the said screens &c. being independent of the construction of the clerestory or like member and having their lower edges in contact with the outside of the roof c on which they are supported. The screens a, Fig. 1, are supported by means of base angle-irons b which may have drainage openings, and additional supports in the form of tie bars g may be provided. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, one or more tie bars h attached to supports i for the ridge e' are secured either directly or by means of bolted angle-irons y, k, l to the screens a. Louvres m or fanlights n may be fitted as illustrated, and the screens a may be of corrugated sheet metal. When the ridge member is of clerestory or lantern form the upper edges of the screens may be inwardly curved. A further modification shown in Fig. 5 consists in fitting a weather guard q on an extension of a rafter o at one side of the roof and the space outside the lower edge of the opening d<2> may be fitted with louvre boards, fanlights or a weather guard r. The screen q may be provided with apertures and if desired fixed or movable louvres. The end walls of the units may have louvred or other apertures therein. The screens a may be arranged in inclined position.
