496,026. Annealing-furnaces. BRASSERT & CO., Ltd., H. A. April 2, 1938, No. 10146. Convention date, July 1, 1937. [Class 51 (ii)] A furnace for annealing metal contained in boxes 25 comprises a circular platform 18 having a central waste gas flue 19 and a bell cover 29, heating being effected by burners 14 arranged below the level of the platform and delivering, preferably non-radially, into an annular combustion space 13. The heating- gases are directed between the boxes 25 by the inclined walls of the cover. The bases of the boxes are spaced from the platform by feet 23 and each has apertures for a pipe 28 for the supply of protection gas and for a thermocouple 26. The outlet 19 may be closed when desired by a cover 20. In a modification the boxes are of annular form and are positioned above inclined flues in the platform leading to the central outlet. In this case the effective cross section of the central outlet may be reduced by a cover of ring form. Specification 471,007 is referred to.
