Abstract

495,624. Directive wireless signalling. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. April 12, 1938, No. 11218. Convention date, April 14, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to overlapping-beam systems for marking-out an equi-signal course, comprising a continuously-energized dipole 1, 2 and reflectors 9, 10, and consists in a particular method of feeding the low-frequency current for operating the keying relays 11, 12 through conductors which are prevented from radiating high-frequency energy likely to interfere with the directional distribution of the beam energy. As shown, the bottom limb of the main dipole consists of a tube 1 enclosing the conductor 2<1>. At their lower ends, both are twisted into a choke 5 to prevent in-phase aerial currents from flowing back to the transmitter 6. The aerial is fed by out-of-phase currents from the opposite terminals 17, 18 of the oscillatory circuit 30, 31. Keying current for the relays 11, 12 is taken from a low-frequency source 15, 16 and passes through the same terminals 17, 18 and the choke 5 to the terminals 19, 20. The flow of high-frequency current through the lateral conductors 28, 29 is prevented by chokes 21 .. 26. Alternatively the tube 1 may be a quarter-wave long and connected to the transmitter through a coiled line which is non-inductive to out-of-phase currents, Fig. 1 (not shown).
