Abstract
491,485. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 19, 1938, No. 8525. Convention date, April 16, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] To reduce high-angle radiation, and fading, a vertical aerial is divided by insulators 3 into upper and lower coaxial sections, the former 1 being say five times the length of the latter. The two sections are fed in phase-opposition through a tubular transmission line 4 and a phase-adjusting network 6 shown separately in Fig. 3. The upper section 1 is preferably energized from below, and the lower section 2 from above, through leads from the terminals T3 and T4. The feed line 4 is connected to the terminals T1, T2, the phase and amplitude of the two supplies being controlled by the variable couplings shown in Fig. 3. Specification 474,769 is referred to.
