Abstract
536,526. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Aug. 16, 1939, No. 23684. Convention date, Sept. 8, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] An aerial for radiating short waves with a predominantly-horizontal polarization comprises a series of half-wave dipoles 1 arranged in tiers cylindrically about the common axis. The system is energized by a transmission line 7 so that horizontally the currents are additive, whilst vertically they balance out. The dipole' wires are originally strung vertically between rings 3, which are then twisted in opposite directions as shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 3 illustrates the current distribution in successive half-wave sections.
