Abstract
517,840. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and BOHM, O. Aug. 8, 1938, No. 23412. [Class 40 (v)] A single directive aerial of the rhombic type, of breadth B and length D as indicated in dotted lines at X, Fig. 1, is replaced by several smaller aerials, which are placed end to end along the line of transmission and fed in series, the last being terminated by a resistance R equal to the surge impedance of the conductors leading to it. The aerials may be arranged " broadside on " as in Fig. 3. Or these two arrangements may be combined, as shown in Fig. 2. The system is energized so that the currents at corresponding points in each individual aerial are in phase with the radiated field. The arrangement gives an increased field-strength in the desired direction.
