Abstract
405,727. Directive wireless signalling. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C., 1, Lorenzweg, Tempelhof, Berlin. Sept. 2, 1932, No. 24496. Convention date, April 19. [Class 40 (v).] In a direction finding system in which two angularly displaced beams are radiated, the field strengths of which are to be compared, a dipole aerial E is continuously energized from a source S and dipole reflectors R1, R2 are alternately keyed either by making and breaking their circuits by relays M1, M2 energized successively by a motor-driven distributer K, or by detuning. The leads to the relays M1, M2 may be of resistance wire to prevent the passage of H.F. currents and the reflectors, one of which may be omitted, are preferably longer than the aerial. In one embodiment the letter A is transmitted in one direction and the letter N in the other. In a modification a characteristic modulation frequency is transmitted in each direction either by providing a further distributer arranged to modulate the transmitter at one or other of two frequencies depending on the keying of the reflectors, the two frequencies for example being obtained by a cam-controlled two-frequency machine.
