Abstract
434,637. Directive wireless signalling. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.-(Assignees of Carter, P. S. ; Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 17, 1934, No. 36198. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1933. [Class 40 (v)] Two or more directive aerials, each having a radiation field of the shape shown in Fig. 2, are fed from a common source in phase-opposition, and are spaced apart by a specified function of the working wavelength, so as to radiate simultaneously two clear-cut beams separated by an angle #, as shown in Fig. 3. Fig. 8 shows two aerial arrays 1, 2 with the required spacing, a reversing switch RS being provided, so that the two units may be fed in phase to give a single radiation-field as in Fig. 2, or out of phase to produce a double beam as in Fig. 3. Fig. 9 shows the arrangement applied to two pairs of aerials marked 1 ... 4.
