Abstract
426,998. Directive wireless signalling. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Sept. 20, 1934, No. 27090. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1933. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to airway and similar radio beacons of the kind in which two overlapping beams are produced by alternately switching one or more reflectors associated with the main transmitting aerial. According to the invention, the aerial system is limited to two members R, A, Fig. 6, each of which acts alternately as radiator and reflector. Switching and keying means are provided for controlling the phase and amplitude of the currents radiated. As shown in Fig. 6, the aerial A and reflector R are identical, and a commutator switch T connects each alternately to the H.F. source S and to a tuning bridge K. In order to adjust the relative amplitude and phase of the working currents to secure optimum directional effects, the radiators Al, A2, Fig. 7, are connected to the source S through feed-lines comprising known types of current and phase regulators J1 J2 and P1, P2 respectively. The single radiators and reflectors may be replaced by groups of dipoles to increase the directive effect.
