Abstract

446,619. Directive wireless signalling. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Sept. 3, 1935, No. 24595. Convention date, Sept. 3, 1934. [Class 40 (v)] The usual dipole aerial used in combination with a curved reflector to concentrate shortwave radiation is replaced by an aerial array 4, the directional angle w of which is equal to the angle subtended by the mirror 1. This compensates for the fact that the focus of the mirror is not sharply defined but occupies the area shown shaded. The bank of dipoles 4 may be backed by a similar bank of reflectors 5. Crossed dipoles are used to offset fluctuations in the polarization of the received waves. The aerials may be " stepped " or arranged on a curved surface to compensate for phase-differences.
