373,922. Directive wireless signalling. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Oct. 29, 1931, No. 30037. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1930. [Class 40 (v).] Relates to directional systems of the kind in which ultra-short waves are alternately radiated in two different directions, there being an overlapping direction in which a characteristic reception is obtained, and comprises the employment of two dipole aerials to give the two directional radiations, switching means being provided for energizing said dipoles alternately from a common generator. The connections between the dipoles and the switching device and/or between the switching device and the generator are preferably constructed as tuned Lecher lines and, as shown, the dipoles 2, 2<1> and 3, 3<1> co-operate with a common cylindrical or cylindro-parabolic reflector 1, being energized from a spark gap 5 through the magnetically operated switch 4. The dipoles are displaced by a suitable amount from the focal line of the reflector or may be provided with separate reflectors.
