Abstract
514,390. Aerials. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. May 4, 1938, No. 13237. Convention date, May 4, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] In an aerial system for transmission or reception comprising a wave aerial, particularly a "rhombic" or V aerial, the dissipation of energy in the terminating impedance is avoided by connecting the normally terminated end of the aerial to the transmitter (or receiver) end through a path independent of the aerial so that energy which has traversed the aerial is-returned to the transmitter end in additive phase. The rhombic aerial 1, 2 shown is fed from the transmitter 5 through transmission line 10, coupling 4, and transmission line 3. Energy traverses the aerial and is fed back in additive phase through transmission line 6, coupling 4, and transmission line 3. The phase is adjusted by the phase shifters 7 and 9 or by adjusting the length of the transmission line 6. Correct matching, to avoid the setting up of stationary waves, is obtained by means of the transformer 8 or the coupling 4.
