Abstract
504,752. Wireless receiving systems; impedance networks. MARCONI'S WIRE. LESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Nov. 1, 1937, No. 29820. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1936. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A potentiometer 41 is connected across a transmission line 21 coupling an aerial 1 and receiver 67, its variable tapping 43 being earthed in order that interference from the aerial and that remaining in the line may be removed by unbalancing the line. The capacity unbalance may be adjusted by a variable. condenser 45 connected between one of the line conductors and earth. The network coupling the aerial 1 and line 21 comprises short and long wave transformers 3, 23 respectively. Transformer 3 comprises a primary winding 5 connected to the aerial 1 through condenser 7 and coupled to the balanced secondary windings 11, 13 connected through condenser 15. The balanced secondaries 27, 29 of transformer 23 are connected through condenser 31 and bridged across the condenser 15 of transformer 3, while the primary winding 25 is connected directly to the aerial 1. The network coupling the line 21 to the receiver 67 is similar, as shown. A similar network for coupling a dipole aerial to the line has balanced primary windings, Fig. 2 (not shown).
