413,917. Wireless receiving systems. AMY, ACEVES, & KING, Inc., 11, West 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Amy, E. V., and Aceves, J. G.) Oct. 27, 1933, No. 29866. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] The down-lead 3 is screened from local interference by an outer conductor 4, the two being coupled and "matched" to the aerial 1 by a step-down transformer 2, and to the receiver through a coupling box 5 enclosing a variable step-up transformer 6. The screen 4 is insulated from the earthed box 5, but is effectively "earthed" through a coil 11 and condenser 10 having low impedance to the normal broadcast frequencies but a high impedance to higher frequencies. When receiving short-wave signals, the shield 4 and wire 3 carry the same H.F. potentials, and the coil 11 is in the input to the receiver. An additional tapping 8<a> is used for short-wave reception. Fig. 2 shows an alternative arrangement, which may also be used for "branched" reception from a common aerial.
