Abstract

609,542. Radio receiving circuits. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. March 15, 1946, No..8118. Convention date, July 30, 1941. [Class 40 (v)] In a frequencychanging arrangement in which local oscillations from the source 10 are applied in phase to the cathode 9 of the mixing valve, and received signals in push-pull to the anodes 6, 7 via a Lecher wire system 3, radiation of the local oscillations is prevented by arranging the system constituted by the two Lecher wires 3 jointly relative to their surroundings of such dimensions that the point of connection of the aerial 1 is a potential node for the local oscillator frequency. The Lecher wires 3 are extended to an appropriate length and terminate in an earthing bridge 13. The position of the node may be adjusted by means of a variable reactance in the earth connection (Fig. 4, not shown). The Lecher wires may be surrounded by a screen, which in a further arrangement (Fig. 5, not shown) is connected to the wires by a shorting bridge utilized to adjust the position of the node.
