[Class 40 (iv)] Wireless receivers which are not sufficiently selective when employed to receive multiprogramme high-frequency transmissions over lines due to the higher energy level of these transmissions, are made more selective by using a variable looser coupling when receiving the line transmissions. The receiver shown at A has terminals K5, K7 for connection to an aerial, but the line transformer 3 is coupled to terminals K5, E by a tuned circuit comprising an inductance 7, a variable capacity 8 and a coil 6. The primary of the line transformer 3 is grounded at its centre point over condensers. The transformer 3 and coupling circuit 6-8 may form a separate unit, or the coupling circuit may be embodied in the receiver A.
