Abstract
520,628. Aerials. BELLING & LEE, Ltd., and STRAFFORD, F. R. W. Sept. 24, 1938, No. 27873. [Class 40 (v)] In an aerial system comprising in combination a dipole 1, 2 with transmission line 6 and a reflector 3, the latter is adapted to be used as an aerial for reception on the long and medium wavebands by connecting it to a receiver through screened matching transformers 16, 17, 20, 23 and screened transmission line 19, 22. The line 4 comprises the spacing rod support for the dipole 1, 2, from which it is insulated, and the reflector 3 to which it is electrically connected. In Fig. 3 the adjacent ends of the dipole are connected to the spacing rod 4 through a centre tapped choke 25 which has a low reactance at medium and long wavelengths but offers a high impedance at high frequencies.
