Abstract
476,701. Inductances; transformers. TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and PADDLE, L. H. July 14, 1936, No. 19528. [Class 38 (ii)] A variable inductance for use for example in short wave wireless receivers comprises a U-shaped conductor formed of fixed elements 15, 16 extending from terminals which may be valve holders 35, 36 and elements 19, 20, 21 connecting the other ends of the fixed elements and adapted to be swung about an axis 17, 18 for tuning. Adjustment of wavelength range may be effected by movement of the element 19, e.g. telescopically, with respect to the members 20, 21. The inductance may be coupled to an aerial circuit by a further U- shaped conductor 22 lying in a plane parallel to and below the elements 20, 21, the terminals 34 of the conductor 22 being mounted on its supporting member 13. The conductor 22 may be slidably mounted on its supporting member so that its coupling with the variable inductance element may be varied. The arrangement may be applied to wireless receivers of the type described in Specification 450,150, [Group XL].
