373,919. Wireless signalling. ARDENNE, M. VON, 19, Jungfernstieg, Lichterfelde, Berlin. Oct. 26, 1931, No. 29608. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1930. [Class 40 (v).] High-frequency signals received on aerials 2 outside a town or other disturbed area 7, Fig. 1, are combined and transferred without rectification through an aperiodic amplifier 4. An ultra-short wave transmitter 6 situated in the area 7 is modulated by the high-frequency signals after they have been separated by bandpass filters 5. Instead of being situated within the area 7, the ultra-short wave transmitter 16 may direct its radiation towards that area as indicated in Fig. 2. In Fig. 3, the short-wave transmitter 6 is modulated by several carrierwave generators 8, which are themselves modulated by rectified and amplified signals derived from a receiver 12 outside the area 7, or by primary telephony or television signals 9, 10. The ultimate receiving-apparatus, shown in Fig. 5, comprises an aerial 17 and short-wave tuner 18, 23 feeding a two-stage resistancecoupled amplifier-detector from which the signals are fed through a condenser 25 to an ordinary tunable broadcast receiver 21. A crystal detector may replace the resistancecoupled valve detector.
