Abstract

515,795. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. June 13, 1938, No. 17440. Convention date, June- 12, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] A short-wave aerial suitable for the transmission or reception of a wide band of frequencies, as in television, is made in the form of a cone, as shown at 4 in Fig. 2, or at 1 and 2 in the double arrangement shown in Fig. 1. In the latter case the centre conductor of the coaxial transmission line TL is connected to the upper cone, and the outer conductor to the lower cone. Or a two-wire feed-line may be used, the two wires being connected to the upper and lower cones respectively. The arrangement gives a figure-of-eight directional response, as drawn at P. For given dimensions the impedance of the aerial is stated to be substantially a pure resistance for wavelengths ranging from 1.36 to 1.55 metres. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 469,366.
