Abstract

394,011. Aerials; directive wireless signalling. MARCONI'S WIRELESS, TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London, DAVIS, N. E., Openways, Little Baddow, 'Chelmsford, and QUICK, R. C., White Hatch, Middleton Road, Shenfield, both in Essex. Dec. 19, 1931, No. 35203. [Class 40 (v).] The current supply to a signal lamp 12 or 13 mounted on or near the aerial masts of a directional wireless system of the kind described in Specifications 354,322 and 359,562, as used for instance at an aerodrome, is fed through wires 1, 2 or 3, 4 which themselves - serve as the aerials. Alternatively the supply wires may be contained inside a metal braiding or covering which serves as the aerial. The signal currents are kept out of the supply mains L, M by chokes 5 .. 8 whilst condensers 9, 10 pass them to a screened conductor 15 which is coupled by a transformer 16 to the transmitting or receiving apparatus. The arrangement is designed to minimize the effect of re-radiation on the directional response of the aerial system.
