Abstract

333,150. Graves, A. Feb. 2, 1929. Aerials; coupling aerial and detector ciruits. -The aerial 1, Fig. 1, aerial coil 2, and earth or counterpoise lead are constructed of one continuous conductor fixed outside the building, ship, aircraft. &c. containing the wireless apparatus, the aerial coil being loose-coupled to the tuning coil 4 through a glass window 3 or other di-electric. The coupling may be varied by mounting the coil 4 on a ball-jointed arm 5 adapted to plug directly into the set or into a socket 10, as shown in dotted lines. Connections 8 and 9 from the coil are led separately to the socket 7 one passing through the support 5. Fig. 3 shows a tuning coil having grid windings 14 and a reaction winding 15, carried by arms 16, 17 mounted on a bar 18 which is hinged to the cabinet 19 so that the coupling of the tuning unit to the aerial coil may be adjusted.
